A life-long dream realized
Lisa and I are in the middle of a horseback-riding lesson. Teaching her to ride is like trying to get a butterfly to flutter in a straight line – adorable, pretty and impossible to get frustrated with, even though her posture is correct and horse is going the right way about 5% of the time. The other 95% is filled with moments like this:
Me: Heels down, toes up! Look where you’re going, hon.
Lisa: *looks at me instead of where she’s going* You’re really pretty.
Me: Why thank you! I think you’re pretty too. *horse starts making its own trail across the arena* Where are you going, girlie? Use your reins, OK?
Lisa: *makes an attempt to use the reins and then gives up and looks at me.* I just saw the Cheetah Girls in concert.
Me: Really? Cool! Did you have fun? Um… why is your horse still going the wrong way, let’s make her stick to the arena fence. Use your reins like this… *demonstrates from the ground while noticing that Lisa’s attention has clearly fluttered away*
Lisa: *horse still going the wrong way* You should join the Cheetah Girls. You’re really pretty.
I have found my next career move.
