Gratitude Project: Patriotism
I’m a tried and true American girl. The National Anthem gets me choked up on a regular basis and I will probably be one of those spunky old ladies with flag pins on my lapel.
Today is Veteran’s Day and I’m so grateful for patriotism. I’m thankful to live in a country that I am undeniably proud of, a nation of dreamers, doers and hopefuls. I’m so glad that we can all believe in something, unite under one flag, and hold our hands over our hearts for the anthem at football games. I’m grateful for principles that guide us, an ideal of freedom, justice for all and equality under the law; for the private property rights that were unique to America for so long and made our work worth something, for the rules of justice that surprise and enlighten the world, for the charity, prosperity and opportunity that surpasses every other nation.
We have a lot of cultures in this melting pot, a lot of accents and food groups and clothing styles – but at the end of the day, we are Americans, and I’m so proud and thankful for that heritage, and the freedom we get to pass on to others.
God bless the U.S.A.!
