Ode to V-Baby
In case you didn’t know, Val is a House 9 sister, an unabashed partner in crime and dearest friend. And while I was tempted to write a traditional Ode to my Post-It, only a list will do for Valerie, Queen of Lists of Everything.
Why I Love Valerie (in no particular order:)
- If she likes something, (movie, music, website, TV show,) she will tell you all about it and send you links and generally be so enthusiastic that you just can’t help yourself – you’ve completely fallen in love with whatever she loves.
- She has great taste.
- She’s always available to talk on phone or email. She’s never too busy for her friends, and she always has great advice, or at least will make you laugh and feel better.
- Speaking of, Val makes me laugh. HARD. ALL THE TIME. She is the Chandler Bing of our Friends, and I love it.
- She’s always willing to talk wedding. 🙂
- She has talked me off of numerous cliffs, and with the help of our other House 9 sistas, they’ve kept me on course even when I was doing my very best to veer off.
- She can bring everything back to an episode of Friends and/or Gilmore Girls.
- She makes an awesome Travel Buddy.
- She makes the BEST chocolate chip cookies EVER.
- And chicken enchiladas.
- She drove all the way to Dallas to see me for an afternoon and meet Adam for the first time at Thanksgiving last year.
- On that trip, we spent over an hour in Dollar General, laughing at random toys and buying absurd-looking pens. This is the epitome of an awesome friendship – when all we need is a dollar and some free time to have fun.
- She loves her friends with fierce loyalty.
- She totally has Barbie hair.
- She plans great parties.
- She totally lets me talk her into “drinking” alchohol.
- She is a friend I can rely on, one of the best “dates” ever, (remember our “date nights” and chicken quesadillas?) She is the Tibby to our Sisterhood, the Meg to our Little Women and the Barbie to our MyScene smash hit.
I love you, Val. Happy Birthday.
May 2007 – Val showed up at the eleventh hour to DPok and Steph’s wedding in Abilene, and Julie and I were a little excited. Just a tad.
