Vacay: List #6
Vacation was fabulous, thanks for asking. Would you like to know why? Of course you would. Would you like it in list-form? Why yes, obviously.
- We went to an ISLAND. Which, although only an hour away by boat and close enough to see from our deck, feels like another world, because you have to cross the ocean and stuff.
- Going to an ISLAND and feeling super far away makes a three-day vacay feel like a week-long respite. SO MAGICAL.
- We went fishing.
- I thought I caught something.
- I might’ve squealed in suspense/delight/fear.
- Whatever it was swam away.
- But Adam caught several fishes, and I did my part by squealing and taking pictures while he did the tough, slimy parts.
- His ability to do the tough, slimy parts is one of the many reasons why I love him.
- We have conquered “Vacay on a Budget” if I daresaysomyself.
- We went for a 14-mile hike on Sunday.
- Someone erroneously told us that it was 10 miles and mostly downhill.
- It wasn’t.
- It might be the prettiest, most lonely and inspiring hike I’ve ever been on, however.
- We almost got stampeded by a Daddy Buffalo.
- He was Very Large.
- And Very Intimidating, and not fenced in or anything pansy like that, but just watched us majestically and made us feel Very Small.
- Bear Grylls says to be quiet in an Elephant herd, to avoid being trampled.
- So we tried that.
- Adam also talked to him, just to be sure: “It’s OK, big fella. We don’t want to hurt your girlfriends.”
- Once we were out of danger, we hypothesized the best way to not get trampled by an angry, charging Daddy Buffalo.
- We decided that our options were very limited.
- This made us even more glad that he did not get angry.
- I made up a song, several hours into several thousand feet of elevation GAIN.
- “I’m dreaming of a MARGARITAAAAAAAA”
- I think I’m funny.
- We finished out the weekend (actually Monday, best Monday EVER) with our first-ever Couples Massage (so luxurious!) and a few hours by the pool.
- Today our power is out and my to-do list is growing and it is becoming painfully obvious that we are back from vacay, but I don’t even care, it was that good.
