What I’m listening to:

• Ethan Hulse. He’s one of the worship leaders at our church, so I’m a bit biased, but holy crap, his music is the best writing/pondering stuff I’ve heard in a while.
• Stand to Reason. I’m a logical thinker and I HAVE to at least try to make sense of a belief before I can dive headlong into it. I’ll never understand God fully, and I don’t expect that I ever will, but this podcast at least helps me put the pieces together and answer some of my niggling questions about faith and reason and how they live together.
• Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers.We saw them in concert last year in downtown LA and it was one of the best live music performances I have ever been to. I’m a sucker for bluegrass, country and a good vocal harmony (whattup, Church of Christ!), and these boys do all three justice.
• Jakob Dylan. My bro is a Bob Dylan fan of epic proportions… I’m glad I can finally do him proud by loving at least one of the Dylans.

What I’m reading:

• Bon Appetit. The cover alone is mouth-watering.
• Cook’s Illustrated. Makes me want to try my hand at pie crust.
• Betsy Ross and the Making of America. A thorough look at an American icon… so far, it’s made me want to learn to sew and go walking on cobblestone streets (not at the same time).
• Pretty in Plaid. I love Jen Lancaster. (How could you not?)

What I’m watching:

• Hart of Dixie. I love Rachel Bilson, because she was arguably one of the most charming characters on that most charming of shows, The O.C. She’s back and her hilarious hijinks in a tiny Alabama town are comforting, if not ground-breaking. Cute.
• The Sing-Off. You guys, I am so obsessed with this show. I’ve been obsessed for three years, and it’s only getting worse with every season. I also have a not-so-secret dream in which Ben Folds and I are besties.
• Top Shot. This season isn’t as good, but the weapons are getting bigger and bigger, so I can only imagine that they’ll be having an anti-aircraft missile shoot-out soon, which is sure to entertain.

What I’m loving:

• being on vacation with my Hubs! Sand between my toes, wind in my face, a LOST island to explore and nowhere to be. Hallelujah.
