You know what the best word in the English language is?
No. Not love. Not charity. Not honor.
VACATION.
Yes, my loves, vacation is the most beautiful word I have ever heard in my life, and tomorrow, I get live out this beautiful word in all of its beautiful fullness for OVER A WEEK.
Where are we going, you ask? Well…. (drumroll) (squees of excitement) (dancing in place)
Washington, D.C.!!!!!!!!!!! My patriotic little heart just burst into eleventy-billion tiny sparkly star-spangled pieces. Oh, and guess what else. My sweet husband decided to honor my life-long adoration of Felicity and give in to my need for fall colors and historic taverns and adorable doo-dads. We are going to WILLIAMSBURG! Oh, and we’re staying in Thomas Jefferson’s dorm. Oh, and I convinced Adam to take me out to dinner in a real-live old-timey honest-to-goodness tavern. Oh, and I’M COMING OUT OF MY SKIN WITH EXCITEMENT.
I also expect to find a horse named Penny* to ride over a fence with. Also, our dear friends (ScAmy) are going with us on a Segway tour around the capital (yes, I’m singing the Chimpanzee song in my head) and we plan to have some great happy hours and monumental (did you see what I did there? ha!) times with them as well as wonderful romantic dateyness and a much-needed break.
So, there you go. This explains my absence, as I’ve been baking things to eat on subways and trying to get work wrapped up in time and all that and a box of chocolates. Actually, no chocolate. Just that.
OK, I have to go. PACK FOR VACATION. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
*I went searching for anything on the internetz about Penny, which in my day consisted of a well-worn book and my imagination, and now is a computer game, which I was about to scoff at and then spent ten minutes playing. Kids these days…
